Company: Northgate Supplies Ltd
Owner: Head of Marketing
Effective from: 1 April 2027
Next review: 1 April 2028
Why we have this policy
Social media helps us reach customers and lets staff share their work. It also makes it easy to damage a reputation, reveal private information or hurt someone. This policy tells you what is expected.
Official accounts
Instagram, LinkedIn and X accounts of Northgate. Only the marketing team posts. Others may suggest posts to the Social Media Lead.
Personal accounts
Staff may say where they work. Make clear that views are personal. Do not use the company logo as a profile picture without approval.
You are responsible for what you post. Be honest, be respectful and remember that anything posted can be copied and kept.
Never share
Customer details, unreleased products, financial results, internal documents, photos of secure areas or other people's private information
Respect
Do not post anything that is discriminatory, threatening, harassing or defamatory, whether about colleagues, customers, competitors or anyone else. Do not post in a way that suggests you speak for Northgate Supplies Ltd unless you are authorised.
Time at work
Personal use during working hours should be limited and must not get in the way of your work.
If something goes wrong
Tell social@northgate.example at once. Do not argue online or delete without telling the Social Media Lead. Take a screenshot and report it at once. The lead decides the response.
Consequences
Breaches may lead to disciplinary action under the disciplinary procedure. Illegal content will be reported to the authorities.
The policy is reviewed by 1 April 2028.
