01Open and edit

The file as it really looks, in the browser.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint files show with their real fonts, page layout, formulas, charts and slide layouts. It also opens .odt, .ods, .odp, .rtf, .txt and .csv. On a phone it fills the screen. The editor is the ONLYOFFICE Docs engine, running on nerix's own server.

The New menu has Word document, Spreadsheet and Presentation: give it a name and it opens. On a template's page, Open in editor makes a Word file with your answers in and the empty ones left highlighted.

02Versions

Every save is a version, and one can be restored.

Changes save by themselves. Each save is a new version of the same library file, and the library, search and the assistant read the newest. Versions lists them, and Restore makes an old one the newest.

Several people can edit one file together. Download the file in its own format, or as PDF or OpenDocument.

03People

Comments, tracked changes and who can do what.

People who can change library files can edit, comment and review, and people who can only read can view. Comments and tracked changes work as they do in Office.

The same file is searchable and citable in the chat, so an answer can point at the page of the version you just saved.

04AI in the editor

Help inside the file, with your workspace's models.

The editor's AI tab offers a chatbot, summarisation, translation, and grammar and spelling. It answers through nerix with your workspace's models and credits, for people who can edit the file. It has no settings of its own and no key to enter.

Viewers, trials and view-only files have no AI tab. The editor's microphone is off; use nerix's own voice in the chat instead.

Questions

Is it Microsoft Office?

No. The editor is the ONLYOFFICE Docs engine running on nerix's own server. It opens and saves Microsoft formats and shows them as Office does.

Can we edit a file at the same time?

Yes. Several people can edit one file together, and each save is a version.

Does the AI see my file?

Only when someone who can edit the file uses the AI tab, and it answers through nerix with your workspace's models and credit limits, under the same privacy settings as the chat.

Where do the files live?

In your library, with a version history. Downloads come in the file's own format, PDF or OpenDocument.
