01Long documents

Start from the kind of document.

Procedures, work instructions, protocols, policies, risk assessments, job descriptions, minutes, annual plans, training plans, improvement plans and business review reports, as well as handbooks, information security policies, tender responses and business plans. Each comes with the figure it needs: a flow chart and a roles table for a procedure, a risk map for a risk assessment, an org chart for a job description.

nerix writes a plan and an estimate first, and nothing is written until you approve it. Align with picks the standards to write against, so each section is written to pass their requirements; a quality handbook starts with ISO 9001, which you can remove.

A procedure or a handbook files its forms and registers as separate files, connected to it in your library.

02Figures

Figures drawn for you, and checked before you see them.

When a figure cannot be drawn, nerix asks the writer once to fix it. If it still fails, the document shows the figure's numbers or steps as a table, with a note saying why. Charts of your numbers are drawn from the figures in the document, never made up as a picture.

Sections point at their figures (see Figure 3, a link in Word and in the app), and anything left unsettled is listed under Things to check when you open the finished document.

04History

Every edit is a version.

Yours and the assistant's alike, each with an author and a note. You always know what changed and who changed it.

Restoring an old version adds a new one. The history only grows. It is the same rule as the credit ledger and the audit log: nothing here quietly rewrites the past.
