01Knowledge
Shared reference collections your workspace may use.
Knowledge holds collections that many workspaces share. The compliance library is one: the requirements of laws with their text and official citation, and for paid standards only the clause number, our own topic and our own check guidance. It has one passage per requirement and language.
Each collection shows what it holds, its languages, how many items it has, when it was updated and its licence. Checks use the compliance library to find what a framework requires. Nobody copies a paid standard's text into it.

02Case files
The documents of one matter, kept together.
A case file holds the documents of one matter, for example a dispute, a project or a customer. It has four parts: Documents, Search, Extract and Drafts. nerix reads the case file as a whole, so a question can draw on every document in it.
Search looks inside the case file. Extract pulls out the facts you ask for, such as dates, parties and amounts. Drafts holds what nerix writes from the documents.

03Your own files
And your library, with a passport for every file.
Your own files live in the library: each read, given a passport with its type, area and own date, connected to the documents around it and found by exact words or by meaning. Knowledge and case files sit beside it in the same Files menu.
A workspace chooses what it may use. A file is never shared with another workspace, and what is in Knowledge is not yours to change.

What is in the compliance library?
Requirements from laws, with their text and official citation, and from paid standards only the clause number, our own topic and our own guidance, never the standard's text. See Checks.
Can I add my own reference collection?
Your own files go in the library. Shared collections in Knowledge are provided by nerix. If you need another one, tell us on the Built for you page.
What is the difference between a folder and a case file?
A folder holds files. A case file holds the documents of one matter and adds Search, Extract and Drafts that read them together.
Does nerix make up law?
It answers from the collection and shows the passage. When nothing in it covers the question, it says so. It does not give legal advice.
