An AI website builder is the right choice if you want a decent small business site in an afternoon, not a project. For most people the answer is Wix, Squarespace or Hostinger when you want a complete, familiar builder with hosting included; Framer when design matters most; Durable for the fastest start; and nerix if you want the site built from a chat and kept next to your documents. This guide compares them on price, free options and limits.
Prices checked on each vendor's own page on 31 October 2026 (no change from our October 21 check). Official pages: Wix, Squarespace, Framer, Hostinger and Durable.

Wix
Wix lists a Free plan and paid plans on yearly billing: Light at $17.77 a month, Core at $29.77, Business at $39.77 and Business Elite at $159.77, with a free domain for the first year. Connecting your own domain requires a paid plan. Wix offers an AI chat builder: you answer questions about your business, it generates a site, and you refine it by chatting or with drag and drop.
Good for: a complete builder with many apps, booking and shop features.
Falls short: with so many options, the editor can overwhelm a beginner, and prices vary by location.
Squarespace
On 31 October 2026 the page showed, for our location, Basic at 14.40 euros a month, Core at 21.60, Plus at 38.40 and Advanced at 82.80 on yearly billing, and 20.40, 28.80, 50.40 and 94.80 when you pay month to month. The page says these include an estimated VAT, so your own figure may differ. The page text does not label each figure itself; we read the lower set as yearly because of its Pay annually toggle and note about annual discounts. There is a 14 day free trial without a credit card, and the free domain applies to plans bought for an annual term (one year of registration on available domains). Its Blueprint AI asks about your business and brand, then generates a multi-page site with layout, fonts, copy and images.
Good for: a polished, design-led look, such as for studios, restaurants and portfolios.
Falls short: no permanent free plan, and less flexibility than a fully custom site.
Framer
Framer targets designers and marketers. It lists a Free plan for non-commercial use, Basic at $10 a month and Pro at $30 (its footer says prices are monthly and billed by the cycle you pick at checkout, but the page we read did not show whether $10 and $30 are the yearly or the monthly figure, so confirm at checkout), with custom domains from Basic upward, plus Enterprise on request. It includes AI credits to try on the free plan.
Good for: sharp marketing sites with strong animation control.
Falls short: it is a design tool first, so a business owner with no design habit may find it more than they need.
