The best ChatGPT alternatives for business today are Claude, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Mistral Le Chat, plus tools that sit on top of several models, such as nerix. None is better for everyone: the right one depends on the tools your team already uses, where your data may be processed, and whether you want one model or a choice of models. Below you will find what each one is good at, where it falls short and what it costs.

Prices checked in October 2026. Vendors change plans often, so use the official pricing links before you buy.

ChatGPT alternatives at a glance

For reference, ChatGPT Business is listed by OpenAI at $25 per user a month, or $20 billed yearly, with at least two paid seats (official pricing).

Tool Best for Price from Free plan Key limit
Claude Long writing and careful analysis Team $25 per seat monthly, $20 yearly Yes Hosted by Anthropic in the US
Google Gemini Teams in Google Workspace Enterprise Business from $21 per user Yes Processing is worldwide
Microsoft Copilot Teams in Microsoft 365 Business add-on $18 to $21 per user Copilot Chat with eligible plans Needs a Microsoft 365 plan
Mistral Le Chat EU-minded teams Team $24.99 per user Yes Fewer business integrations
nerix Your own documents and model choice Team from 24 euros per seat Yes Younger product, no SOC 2 yet

Claude

Claude, from Anthropic, is popular with people who write and read a lot. It handles long documents well and tends to give measured, structured answers. Anthropic lists a free plan, Pro at $20 a month ($17 billed yearly), and Team seats at $25 a month ($20 yearly) for teams of 2 to 150. A Premium Team seat costs $125 a month ($100 yearly) for heavy users (official pricing).

Where it falls short: it is one family of models from one company, so you cannot swap in a different provider for a task. Anthropic processes content in the United States, which may matter to you for customer data.

Google Gemini

Gemini fits best where your team already lives in Google Workspace. For individuals, Google lists a free Gemini tier, then AI Plus, AI Pro and AI Ultra, with the Pro plan at 21.99 euros a month in Germany. For organisations, Gemini Enterprise Business starts from $21 per user a month, and the Standard and Plus editions from $30 (official plans).

Where it falls short: the plan names and limits are layered, so it takes care to see which one gives your team what it needs. Google describes processing as worldwide, so check the terms if you must keep data in one region.

Microsoft Copilot

If your company runs on Microsoft 365, Copilot is the natural candidate because it works inside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Microsoft lists Copilot Business as an add-on at $18 per user a month on a yearly term (listed from $21, with a promotion for eligible customers) and $25.20 month to month. Copilot Chat itself is included at no extra cost with eligible Microsoft 365 plans (official pricing). We cover it in depth in our guide to Microsoft Copilot alternatives.

Where it falls short: it is an add-on to a Microsoft plan, so it only makes sense if you already pay for one. Without the paid Copilot licence, Copilot Chat cannot reach your organisation's shared data.

Mistral Le Chat

Mistral is a French company, which is why European teams look at it first. Mistral lists a free plan, Pro at $14.99 a month and Team at $24.99 per user a month, with up to 30 GB of storage per user and domain verification. Single sign-on and audit logs are on the custom Enterprise tier (official pricing).

Where it falls short: the business plans are lighter on integrations and admin controls than the largest suites, and Mistral's page does not state where Le Chat data is hosted, so ask them in writing if that decides your purchase.

nerix

We make nerix, so weigh this section with that in mind. nerix is an AI workspace rather than a single chatbot: chat that answers from your own documents with the page of each source shown, a document library, team chat, tasks, a help desk, meetings and email drafts. You choose the model per task across providers, with Mistral (processed in France) as the default and Anthropic and Google when an admin allows them; a new workspace sends its data only to providers in the EU, and an owner can lock it there.

Pricing is in euros: Free for one person, Plus at 15 euros a month, Pro at 39 euros, and team plans per seat, Team at 24 euros (three seats minimum) and Business at 42 euros (ten seats minimum). Every plan includes a monthly block of credits for AI work, the price of a question is shown before you send it, and a spending cap is on by default. See pricing and models.

Where it falls short: it is a younger product with fewer integrations than Microsoft or Google, and it does not yet hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001. Its own security page says so plainly. If your whole company is built on Microsoft or Google tools, their assistants will fit more naturally.

How to choose

Start with the tools you already pay for. A company on Microsoft 365 should test Copilot first; a company on Google Workspace should test Gemini. Both reuse the logins and files you have.

Next, decide how much the location of processing matters. If you handle personal data of people in the EU, shortlist the options that let you control it and read each vendor's data terms, not only the marketing page.

Then think about model choice. If you want one trusted model, a single-vendor assistant is simpler. If you want to use a fast model for routine work and a stronger one for hard questions, a multi-model workspace gives you that without several subscriptions.

Finally, run a two week trial with five real tasks from your own work. Compare answers, speed and the cost per person, and let your team vote.

The short version

There is no single best ChatGPT alternative for business. Claude suits long reading and writing, Gemini and Copilot suit teams already inside Google or Microsoft, Mistral suits teams that want a European company, and nerix suits teams that want answers from their own documents and a choice of models. Compare them on your own tasks, check where your data is processed, and pay only for the seats that get used.

Preguntas frecuentes

What is the cheapest alternative to ChatGPT for a team?
Every major assistant has a free tier, so the cheapest start is free. For paid team seats, the published prices from the vendors are close to each other, roughly 20 to 25 dollars or euros per person a month, so the real saving comes from paying only for the people who use it and from choosing a plan whose limits match your work.
Is there a ChatGPT alternative that keeps data in Europe?
Some options let you choose. Mistral is a French company, Microsoft documents an EU Data Boundary for Copilot Chat, and nerix lets an organisation limit answers to providers hosted in its region. Always read each vendor's own data terms for the exact scope, because inference can fall outside a boundary in some cases.
Can I use several AI models without several subscriptions?
Yes. Tools that route to more than one provider, such as nerix, let you pick a model per task under one plan. The trade-off is that you depend on that tool's choice of models and its prices, rather than the maker's own app.
