V tomto návodu

The best free AI tools for small business are a general assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) for writing and thinking, Canva for design, Perplexity for research with sources and nerix for questions about your own documents. All of them have a free plan with a real limit, so the useful question is not "which is free" but "where does the free plan stop". Below is each tool's free plan as its company describes it, and the point at which paying starts to make sense.

Prices checked in October 2026 and they change. Open the official pages before you rely on a limit: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Canva, Perplexity.

ChatGPT

Free plan: OpenAI's free-tier help page says free users get web search, data analysis, file and image uploads and image creation, and everyday text chat that is not capped, subject to abuse-prevention safeguards. File uploads, image generation, voice and data analysis each have their own limits.

Where it stops: a lighter model than paid plans, and tool limits that bite when you work all day. Its terms and data settings differ by plan, so check them for client material.

Paid: Go is 8 dollars a month in the US, Plus is 20 dollars, and Business is 20 dollars per user a month billed annually.

Claude

Free plan: Anthropic lists chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation, memory across conversations, app connections and up to five projects on Free.

Where it stops: usage limits and access to its lighter models only. Heavy daily use will reach the cap.

Paid: Pro is 17 dollars a month billed annually (20 monthly), and Team standard seats are 20 dollars per user annually.

Gemini

Free plan: Google's page lists chat with its Flash-Lite model, image creation and editing, Deep Research, voice conversations and Gems, with 15 GB of storage.

Where it stops: usage limits, and Gemini in Gmail and other Google apps comes with the paid plans. If you pay for Google Workspace, check what your plan already includes.

Paid: Google AI Plus is 4.99 euros a month and AI Pro is 21.99 euros a month on Google's euro page.

Canva

Free plan: Canva says Free includes limited AI access for design, images and video, and its help centre says Magic Write draws on a monthly AI allowance on Free. Numbers have changed over time, so look at the current help page.

Where it stops: the allowance, and premium content and brand tools on paid plans. Its Pro price differed between the pages we found, so check the pricing page.

Perplexity

Free plan: basic searches with sources, plus a small allowance of deeper searches. The company's pages disagreed on the exact number, so check it.

Where it stops: the deeper research modes. It is a research tool, not a writing or document tool.

Paid: Pro is 20 dollars a month, or 200 dollars a year according to one page and 17 dollars a month annually on another.

nerix

Free plan: one person, 3,000 credits a month, and it stops at its limit and is never charged. The credits are the unit of AI work, and the app shows what a question costs before you send it. On Free you can use chat with sources and the library for your own documents, and the app lists a free tier of the Websites add-on with a small nerix badge.

Where it stops: the monthly credits. A heavy research day can use them up, and AI work then waits until next month unless you add a credit pack. Free is one seat, so team chat and shared libraries need a team plan. It is a newer product with fewer integrations than the big names.

Paid: Plus is 15 euros a month, Pro 39 euros, and Team 24 euros per seat a month from three seats. nerix.ai runs on servers in the European Union today, and you can choose the model. See pricing.

When paying starts to make sense

  • You hit the limit weekly. A plan around 8 to 20 dollars a month is often cheaper than the hour you lose.
  • You share work. Teams need shared libraries and admin controls that free plans lack.
  • You handle client data. Paid and business plans often have clearer data terms. Read them.
  • You depend on a feature. If one tool saves you hours, pay for that one and stay free on the rest.

How to choose

Pick one general assistant first, since it covers drafting, summaries and brainstorming. Add Canva if you make visuals, and Perplexity if research eats your week. Add nerix if the questions are about your own contracts, quotes and notes, and read our guide to getting answers from your own documents. Whatever you use, apply the habits in checking AI answers before you rely on them, because a free answer that is wrong costs more than a paid one.

Use free plans safely

Free does not mean careless. Do not paste passwords, bank details or other people's personal data into a tool whose terms you have not read. Check whether the free plan uses your conversations to improve its models and whether you can switch that off. Keep a short list of what you use and what you put in it, so a colleague can follow the same rules. Save useful prompts in one shared document. And keep a human check on anything that goes to a customer, a tax office or a court: AI drafts are a start, never the final word.

The short version

The best free AI tools for small business are ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for general work, Canva for design, Perplexity for research and nerix for your own documents. Free plans are real but limited, and the limits differ, so read them first. Start with one assistant, add tools only when a task needs them and move to paid when you hit the limit weekly.

Na co se lidé ptají

Are free AI tools really free?
Yes, within limits. Free plans cap usage, restrict the best models or remove some features, and some use your data in ways paid plans do not. Read the terms and check the limits before you put client work in.
Can I run a business on free AI tools only?
For a one-person business with modest needs, often yes. The limits show up when you need steady daily use, shared team work or guarantees about your data. At that point a paid plan is usually small next to the time saved.
Which free AI tool should I try first?
Start with one general assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) for writing and thinking, and add a specialist only when you hit a task it does badly, such as design or searching your own files.
