# How to Upload Documents to nerix

Files is where your documents live. Once a file is in, nerix can search it and answer from it, and every answer points to where it found the words.

## In short

- Open Files from the sidebar.
- Drag your files into the window, or use the New menu and choose upload. Each file can be up to 128 MB.
- Put them in folders if you like. Dragging moves a file.
- Open Chat and ask a question. nerix searches the files you can see. Start free How the library works

## Finding your way around

The sidebar of Files has My files and folders, Recent, Starred and By kind. You can switch between a list and a grid.

Search files looks inside your documents, not only at their names.

## Each file has a page

A file's page has Preview, Details and Discussion panels. Every file has a passport with its type, owner, dates and review state, and shows the documents connected to it.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint files open and edit in the browser.

## Who can see a file

Folder and document access follow your roles. A person only gets answers from files they are allowed to see.

## Downloads

Your own uploads stay downloadable on every plan. Files nerix makes for you, such as PDF or Word documents, download on paid plans.
